Gathering between the Government of the Canary Islands & offshore wind companies

Last July 31, took place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a meeting between the President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, the Minister of economy, industry, trade and knowledge, Pedro Ortega, the Deputy Minister of Industry , energy and trade, Adrián Mendoza and representatives of floating offshore wind energy-related companies such as: NAUTILUS Floating Solutions represented by its Managing Director, Jesús Busturia, Esteyco, independent consultant of civil architecture and engineering; Siport 21, global consulting firm; Enerocean, company dedicated to the resource assessment of new and/or renewable energy technologies; and Saitec, one of the leading firms of Spanish engineering company specialising in consulting services.

The President of the Government of the Canary Islands recalled that offshore wind energy has an important role in energy planning that the Government of the Canary Islands has designed for the next seven years, the so-called 2015-2025 energy strategy, in which is expected to reach 310 MW of installed offshore wind power, in order to make progress in the implementation of a model of self-sufficiency energy based on renewables.

At the meeting, the Government of the Canary Islands, presented its activities in this field and collected from the participants their contributions to the development of the plan.
